Is anyone using the half-stops marked with dots on the Hexar AF's aperture ring?
Does the dot between f2 and f2.8 sets the aperture to 2.6?

Hexar AF Shutter Speed

Hexar AF Shutter Speed

Unrelated question regarding the Hexar AF. Is the slowest shutter speed 1/30? Having recently acquired this camera, I find the controls a bit confusing, and the manual worse. I'd like to use the AF for low light settings, but find 1/30 a limitation. Any advice on this this subject?

Thanks, Tim

The shutter definetly will fire below 1/30 but there is a setting that allows the user to input a "lowest usable shutter speed". I don't recall the button combination you have to press together to reset as I don't have the camera in front of me but someone here should be able to tell you what they are.

To change the minimum camera shake critical speed select P-mode, then keeping the Select button pressed set the shutter desired speed by means of the up-down button.

Whoa - you guys are a wealth of information! I'm appreciative and glad I joined this forum. I think the Hexar AF is a curious camera, and like some of the shooters in the referenced article, I find myself using the AE & AF features in low light settings, trying to capture images of moving subjects.

I just returned to film after many years, and now that the alimony is paid, and daughter is in college I can hopefully enjoy a few hobbies again!

Thanks again!

If you select 'A' rather than 'P' there is no limit on the lowest shutter speed. Essentially, the only difference between the two is that P will adjust your selected aperture or speed if the shutter speed is too low or high.

In fact I noticed this morning that I had somehow swtiched the lowest P setting to 1/60. DOn't quite know how that happened. SOmewhere I have that AF cheat sheet, the little card with all the programming settings, damned if I know where.
