Hexar AF with date back ?

Is the "normal" selling price for a Hexar AF with date back higher then a Hexar without date back, all other things equal ?

HIJACKING THREAD! I got a question as well. I got a Hexar AF with databack, batteries in it of course, displays the date on the back properly, but I can't see any numbers on my negatives other then "04 400TX" stuff like that. Where exactly am I supposed to look out for the date?

Within the image frame, Moriturii.
I personally have always avoided date back... i think it's silly. But i might accept some people find it useful to have the date stamped on their pictures.

It would indeed be better if the date would be shown outside of the image, alongside the type of film, but in these digital times, I think it's a bit late to ask camera manufacturers to do it that way 😎

most people just ordered the prints, often even throwing away the negs. (like my own parents.)
They would never see the date so that would kill the whole point.

I avoid them, they were useful to insurance adjustors and a certain tourist mentality I guess, but I think they look dumb and add bulk. I'd have to be saving a good amount of cash to justify buying a Hexar with one, like maybe if it was $250 I'd get one with that liability.

Then again, the plain back on the Hexar has a covering that sometimes bubbles so screw the cosmetics....

Don't see a single digit on any picture anywhere... but I am glad because I don't want any ridiculous numbers on my pictures like some late 80's family photo album.

The battery in the back might need replacement, Moriturii.

If or not to pick a date back Hexar: let me put it like this: I rather have a well-working silver/date-back sample, than a black camera with glitches.

Pick by condition. Price should be similar.

For me, the little "bulk" the date back adds is inconsequential. I forget it's even there. (I've had a silver with the date back for many years and more recently also got a black without. (Just because it's my favorite camera ever!))

No, not really. The databack version was only available in Japan. I had one, but sold it. The date only goes up to 2019 anyway.
