hello!

does anyone know where in australia i could get a CLA on the hexar RF? Im located in Sydney NSW, but dont mind mailing it within australia. similarly does anyone know what prices i am to expect?

thanks!

Look online. The process for the RF is really not so hard.

Hi Odmit, I got my leica realigned at foto riesel in Sydney.
It did cost me nearly $300 for it, which is a little obsurd, but i wasn't game enough to do it myself... you could try with them and ask for a quote?

They are located in the CBD.

Please have a look online - I did my m3 myself which was much easier than I expected.

Could save you some cash.

I don't know if he does Hexar, but my M6TTL was adjusted by Vic Plant for something like $50, i don't remember exactly. He did a perfect job. It had been done twice before by a camera shop around the corner from the old Camera Exchange when it was in Lonsdale Street, but they didn't manage to get it right, even though I had bought it from them.

Ask at Camera Exchange Melbourne for Vic's contact details. He might be able to do your Hexar.

Mainline in Crows Nest are the Australian distributors, so I imagine they would do this. Would certainly be worth asking them.
I've also heard good things about Legend camera service in Dee Why, sorry don't have his contact details.

+1 on adjusting it yourself, it's not that hard if you have a tape measurer and a tripod. i'm not so skilled and yet I managed to adjust the RF on both my R-D1 and Hexar RF with ease.

Hi Odmit. My Hex Rf was done by Vic at Camera Exchange a few years back to the extent he felt he could - still a little vertically off. I think it cost $80. From what i've read and as per above the self adjustment process can be done - there's a good thread here you've probably seen. I agree you don't want to force things in the cameras internals, and with the Hex i think the vertical and horizontal adjustments are linked - changing one might affect the other...that thread had the detail.

Really a simple job. Take the top cover off. A couple of screws, one "hidden" under the leatherette. Then turn these adjustment points pictured below.
BTW... These can be reached when the plastic plug is off from the top cover.

to add to micromoogmans great post. You should take the top cover off, pop off that tiny little plastic that opens a hole on the top cover. Pop the top cover back onto the hexar rf (now with a hole on the top) then adjust the vertical/horizontal screws as needed and you can see how you are doing by looking into the viewfinder directly. Otherwise you need to fiddle with the adjustments, put the top cover back on, take a look, and remove the top cover to further adjust, rince and repeat. Ads quite a few unnecessary steps, although some people find that it is difficult and hard to adjust the screws and stuff via the small hole at the top cover.
