...but when I checked close focus with a tape measure, it was spot on (to the millimeter).
I have the option to just send it back, but I kind of like the little unit. Should I go for the following route? http://www.edtse.com/konica-hexar-rf-rangefinder-diy-adjustment/
I have all the necessary fine tools, and I've successfully taken apart cameras and car engines before (and got them to work again), but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a similar story.
Edit: I think I'll give it another chance tomorrow. The close focusing at minimum distance (.7m) with both a 50mm f2 Planar and a 28mm CV Ultron seem to be bang-on accurate. And even though the infinite focus seemed to be way off vertically and horizontally, I can see now at middle distance interior views that the position of my eye relative to the viewfinder makes a considerable difference.
I've read that infinity should be tested with something at least a mile away. But finding a nice black monolith against the snow might be difficult. Wouldn't something at several hundred yards give a good indication?
