Hi all,

Have had my hexar RF for a few months, have noted that the LED shutter speed indicator in the VF times out after ~15s (as per the manual) however my hexar RF seems to have trouble waking up from this, even with half-pressing the shutter button again needing me to resort to turning the camera off and ON again.

is this an amenable problem by a CLA?

I am using some dodgy battery, despite the battery sign indicating full power... better change and see.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I've noticed mine doing this a little too. I have to switch it OFF and ON again to wake it up.
I can't remember the last time I put new batteries in, so perhaps a change is in order.

My shutter speed display is also doing this. It happens after almost every photo I take.

Most of the time mucking about with the frameline lever seems to turn the lights back on for some reason.

The battery indicator shows a full battery? will try some new ones...

bobfrance or coffeekev - did you have luck with new batteries?

I thought it was due to a frameline display problem as my 35mm lens (on VC LTM adapter) shows the 35mm framelines but with a tiny bit of the 50mm framelines showing too. And if I move the lever to the 50mm line - it stays there. Moving the lever seemed to spring the camera lights back to life.

Sometimes switching on and off doesn't work. Sometimes moving the lever doesn't work. Sometimes the lights go very faint and flickering before they turn out (only visible if I cover up the viewfinder window to make it dark).

I don't think I had this issue before I opened the top to try and adjust the rangefinder alignment.

Yes, changing the battery fixed the problem for me, however I never had the issue of the LED going faint and flickering.

I suppose it is possible that some wiring was disturbed when you opened it up to make adjustments, but I would still replace the batteries before doing anything else as they usually seem to be at the root of many issues on the Hexar RF.

Fingers crossed!

Unfortunately replacement batteries did not help.

I've had more of a fiddle. ... switching on and off does not help now. The most reliable method to get the lights back on is to push the frameline lever to the 28 position and then release so that the lever flicks back. This works almost every time...wierd.

I'm deciding wheter to send it to someone for repair or just live with it.

I suspect we all have this problem. I came to the conclusion that it was powering down to save me battery life. :-D
