Hey big spender: Nokton LTM (1950s)

Eh, from what I've read, that may be high but not out of reason high. Rare and good is a dangerous combination for the wallet... Gotta admit it would be fun to have the money just to splurge for it and see if it really is that good 🙂

Just shows my reading isn't as complete as it could be... 😱 Not going to get one even at that price anytime soon, alas... 😀

William

As a PS, this does make me want to go to Kevin Cameras and see what he prices one at ... 😀

What is the deal with this "arsenall" guy/person/company? He lists huge chunks of stuff on eB(my-oh-my-what-a-wonderful-d)ay that's Buy-it-Now only. Prices are always stratospheric and, of course, non-negotiable since no bidding is allowed. The descriptions are minimal in the extreme. It's like we should thank him for giving us the opportunity to pay too much money for his stuff.

Basically I just get a bee in my bonnet when I see this guy's listings. What am I missing? What sense of humour do I not have? Sorry, I'm feeling curmudgeonly.

Oohh... Him. I must be tired, I didn't realize it was one of _those_ fake auctions. Sorry gabrielma, I should have known better.

Look at the difference in the barrels of those two lenses. The Arsenall lens is the real LTM Nokton and indeed a rear lens. When listed they sell for over $2000 normally. I felt very safe bidding $500 on one once with the clear knowledge that I would never win it.

Kevin is selling a Nokton originally built for the Prominent which has been converted with an LTM mount at some time in it's life. You can purchase a a Nokton for the Prominent for under $250 and spend anywhere from $50 to $175 for an LTM adaptor and still be ahead of the game.

I was slightly wrong above. The adaptors for the Prominent lenses are to mount them on Contax mount cameras. The converstion to an LTM mount would be more involved.

I recently picked up 1 of those for a decent price (well, decent for these guys, anyway--nothing close to what arsenall or even kevincameras would charge). Unfortunately, it's @ DAG right now getting re-collimated because it had been worked on in the past & re-assembled incorrectly. :bang: So I guess I got what I paid for. 😉

That's why I call it "ePrey". It'd be nice to get a hold of a real one at a fair price. But what's "fair"? Put an economist and a philosopher in a room together and ring that bell...

My Canon 50 1.2 is also on its way to DAG (haze in the rear element, and I suspect a slight focus miscalibration); it's always a crapshoot on ePrey. But prices like these, I mean, unless daddy owns stock in some oil company...
