Hi to all,

Finally bought myself an M8.
Now that I have used it for about a week.
I can say for sure, it was a pity I did not buy it earlier.

No regrets . . . all I could say.
It's truly a replacement for my M6.

Hi congratulations on your M8. Its a wonderful camera but its NOT a replacement for an M6. Sooner or later you will get the urge for a roll of film and the hassle free M6 effect. Id say an M8 it complements an M6 superbly. I actually sold my MP initially to buy more glass for the M8 but ended up getting a film M about a year later. No regrets at the time as I wanted wider lenses but long term i would not mind betting you revisit film M's.

Enjoy and post some pictures

Hi Ducky,

Hi Ducky,

Congrats and good luck. Was going digital part of your decision?

Yes, I really wanted to go digital.
Scanning film was tiring, if not painful.

I loved my Leica M6 and the results it gave me was wonderful.
But not having to scan film was wonderful.

Not replacement?

Not replacement?

Hi Richard,

So it was not a replacement? I am still trying to film color from my dng files. So far not too bad. I am now selling M6, putting that money back into stocks.

You know, I love the MP too. I am sure there is room for the MP as well. Perhaps later. :p

Hi In the short term you will be blown away by the M8 and will probably not use any thing else. I am giving you the low down after 12 months of use. I use my M6 mailnly for black and white film. I develop my own routinely and print them myself. I generally prefer the M8 to colour print film as the commercial colour processing is not that great. Selling your M6 in the short term is not a big problem. Im just betting that in a while you might want one again!

best wishes

Richard
