Hi, i'm new to photography and I was using SLRs before but I've just decided to sell my equipment and got myself a Bess L with 25/4. This is actually the first camera i bought new and I love it!
nice to meet you all!

Nice to meet you too, Alan! That was quite a bold move. I have a 25mm CV lens too. I'm looking forward to seeing some of your shots posted in the members gallery.

welcome to RFF Alan. Now run away VERY quickly before you start searching for FEDs, Kievs, Canon RFs, Leicas, etc...etc... on *bay or Classified Forum here.

😀

It's not a curse. All the pages here have special subliminal msgs embedded that will "encourage" you to aquire one each of every page from Princelle's book. 🙂
Welcome aboard, Alan!

Welcome to the forum Alan and that was definitely a radical move! I moved from SLRs to RF and love it and I bet you will too. Nothing like jumping in at the deep end eh? 😉

Yoikes! Heck of a way to dive into the deepend. OTOH, that's as good a way as any. Welcome to our little spot out in a virtual field under the oaks near a small stream. Pull up a patch of grass and a glass of focusing fluid and enjoy yourself.

Welcome to the club Alan! You have made a wise choice in the L+25mm/4 kit! Sadly mine has been sold but I assure you of the optical quality of the 25mm lens. 🙂

Thanks to all, I can't wait 'till I get to shoot with the camera. the next thing I may need to invest in is a film scanner, or I'll just let my local lab do it for me! the widest i had used on a SLR is a 28, I didn't expect the 3mm difference to be that much wider! I figured if i set the lens to f/16 I can just point it at anything and it will be in focus! the build of the L is actually alot better than I've expected. I attached the straps to only one side so I can carry it in a vertical position! 😀

I just came back from my first day of shooting the L with 25/4. It's my first time using scale focusing so I just set my aperture to f/16 for most of time to make sure my subject is in focus. I shot half a roll of XP2 super. I can't wait till I can see the result!
