Hi
I have just jumped into the rangefinder world having purchased a M4-P canon 50mm 1.8 and a Jupiter 12.
My question is - I have read that the first two numbers on the Jupiter 12 indicate year of production. Mine is N9103268 its as new with paper work and receipt so is 1991 right as i thought they stopped in 80 ?
Looking forward to my rangefinder exploits !

Hi Chris,
Welcome to the rangefinder world. I have a J-12 with serial number starting 87, and I've always assumed that means it was made in 1987.

Hello Chris,
I have just gotten a Jupiter 12 too. It's serial number is 9103504. It is also as new with beautiful coatings on the glass. Maybe ours were built on the same day. As Alan said, the first 2 digits on these lenses indicate the year of build.
Anyone have a 00 or 01 J12 out there?
Steve
