Anyone know what camera(s) and films might have been used for these?

most of the photos were made 4X5 or roll film Speed Graphic cameras. Think about lugging that around in a combat zone. Also in use, I think were rangefinders, such as the Leica screwmounts of the time. But since those were Axis made (Germany), probably not many available....

Joe Rosenthall shot a lot of the goings on with a Graflex 4x5, including the famous flag raising photo. many of those pictures you linked to seem to be 4x5's.

Actually, it was Robert Capa. He used a Zeiss Ikon Contax II.

There is a book by a U.S. photographer who shot with an Argus "Brick" during World War II. The photos are very good.
