Himalaya pics

Hi all,
got back from a great trip to the Himalaya this week and am now going through my pictures. I've started putting them on here www.flickr.com/photos/nobbylon
Not Eric Valli I know! but on the whole I'm pleased with the first lot. 2 sets, 1 taken with my M6ttl and 35 asph sum (bit battered and leaking light intermittently, arghh, hopefully Will van Mannen sorting that out with the cla later today) and 1 taken with the D70. The digi compact users on the trip all had battery problems with the cold, ie not working, always running out of power etc. my D70 battery was only charged once in 3 weeks and was ample for 800 shots with a lot of reviewing! 350D and 400D users had similar. I was the only one using film!!!

thx Boy Scout and yes it was fun but the trip stretched me to my personal limit of fitness!

Nice pictures -- one question, though. Some of the photos in the Leica folder with a lot of sky have markedly darker corners (at least on my monitor). Is that a characteristic of the particular lens that you used (and maybe shot wide-open), or did you have a lenshood that was intended for a slightly longer focal length? Not a big deal, but it seems like they have a little bit of vignetting or light fall-off...

Anyway, nice pictures from what must have been a great trip!h

Thx for looking guys. I have about 60 in the Leica section now and still have 8 rolls to go through! it's amazing how different they look to the Nikon stuff.
Mike, I just looked again and can't really see much light falloff on my mac monitor, maybe just a couple of shots but they where prob shot wide open. I used my 35 sum asph with the rectangular hood for most and never had fall off or vignetting caused by hood before but the lens does vignet slightly wide open but no where near as much as an ultron 35 I had. I also used a 15 heliar on some but i'm sure you can tell which!
I will keep adding to the set as I go through and will post when i'm done.

thx for sharing. I would propably stood there with my mouth open and forgetting about taking pictures in this landscape. You took some pics that really catch that overwelming greatness. Had a similar experience in Yosemite Park at a couple of spots where Ansel might have parked his tripod... And I agree that the Leica pics do look different from the Nikon ones. Sure will be a memorable trip I guess.
