Historic Salt Paper Photo's from 1840

David, thanks for posting this. She didn't go into the actual process of salt prints, but that wasn't her job here. She said that our old (30 years) photos are faded, emulsion is peeling, etc and she is right. I have seen old prints from over a hundred years and they really do look good. She made a very good presentation, I wish her the best.
 
I see at 2:30 someone got invited to wear the fox hat.

These have been really well cared for. My family photos must differ, however, because my father and grandfather and other ancestor’s carefully taken Kodachromes and B&W prints are still in great shape.

It's all part of the service...

It's amazing how well old pictures last; I've some of family members from 1908 or so and they are like new. I've even one that's a circular image printed on oblong paper that I guess is an early Kodak shot but taken in 1916.

Amazing tonality: most salt prints that I've seen are hopelessly contrasty; I suspect because they are often grievously under-exposed. Thanks, David.
