Woke up this morning expecting to go to my grandson's baseball game (4-yr. old) and it was cancelled, so we went to Cracky B instead for breakfast. Then, I got to thinking, here we are in the best time of year IMO, the Fall. I have several rolls of K64 and a limited time to shoot it and send to Dwayne's for processing.

Since this is an historical moment, and my grandchildren's grandkids will be around to look at the slides long in the future, what should I dedicate this last few rolls of K64 to, anyway?😕

Something to ponder...

Yeah, that would be nice, except I have 3 rolls and I would like to relate these to something for my grandkids to look at and relate to down the road, maybe comparing to the last time I used K64, in 1980 on vacation... The Kodachrome Project focused on all eventful things in the country for the last year and that is cool...but I need to focus on family this time.

Funds for travel are extremely limited but I may have an opportunity in a couple of weeks as we have a family trip planned for the Great Smoky Mtns.

Dave, shot those family pictures in places that may not be around in a generation or two. That way, you'll capture both the family and the places reflecting a way of life that will be gone some day.

Sepiareverb, you rarely post any pictures of family here. You should make an occasional exception and show us some of your K64 work. I'm curious.

It's something for me to think about as well. I've got a few rolls left, but if I wait much longer, chances to use it will pass me by. I would like to shoot something that would contribute to my portfolio, but the more I think about it, the less time I will have to shoot... It's a pickle.

I'd say shoot as much of it as you can at big family events, so they can be remembered for years to come...

None of these are terribly recent, I've got one disc from Dwaynes I've not even stuck in the computer yet, and another bunch of films yet to send- but some of the snaps I most often see when we fire up the projector.

All with the M5 and either the 28/2.8 V2 or the 40/2, my favorite lenses for Kodachrome. Something about those coatings and that film which takes me back to the 70s. Come to think about it tho that first one might be the Nikon 28Ti or the Contax T2- I've usually got all three cameras loaded with K64, and have just replaced the M5 with a Zeiss Ikon for snaps.

I've got some Velvia 100 in with my last film order which I'll use. Maybe even use some Provia 400 if that's still around. Lord knows the extra few stops would be nice in the summer woods, but I've been bringing a flash with me more and more for all my work. If the Agfachrome RSX 50 was still around I'd have switched to that- as it had a very nostalgic feel to the color- I used to shoot a lot of that in the stock photo days. I don't think the Agfachromes will last as long as the Velvia will, but nothing is going to give Kodachrome a run at that- I've got Kodachromes of me as a very little kid that look like they could have been shot last week.

All this missing of Kodachrome 64 makes me miss those old Kodachrome prints even more- super surface, great color and fiber-based. Anybody know how big Kodak made them? I've only ever seen 2x3" ones from our family snaps.
