Hmmmmm.. Rumor of x70 for Fuji

A smaller x100s w/ a 23f2.8 lens and no vf. Man could this be the pancake setup to answer the Nikon and Ricoh pocketable apsc cameras?

I hope so... if this is pocketable like the Ricoh GR, I'll be very happy to buy one.

So how many variations on a theme do we need?

The alternatives Fuji is offering at the moment is enougfh to make your head spin!

They are certainly different from Sigma who is much slower to release new bodies. But I would love to c them bring out some new models as well...

How about sigma starts shipping more models of cameras based on the foveon sensor:D

How about a csc or a pocketable one?

The X-series is not very big: Pro, E, M, A... just 4 levels, 2 of which are extremely similar.
The fixed lens cameras like the X100s and rumored X70 are in a different class.

Olympus has 5 levels: PM, PL, P, M5, and M1
Panasonic has 4: GF, G, GX, and GH

It just amazes me that it hasn't really been that long since Fuji released the X100 to a salivating audience. They really did hit the ground running and everyone else has had to play catch up ... and not all that successfully IMO. They seem to be maintaining control of this market and have barely put a foot wrong! :)

Well, the only way this can be successful is if it is truly pocketable like the Ricoh GR. if its too close in size to the x100 or xm1, it would be silly. Also has to be about $700-800.

Unless you wear justin beiber pants, the x100 will fit in a pocket :)

Lol. But u forget.. A lot of the new outdoor shorts like the ones from Columbia have some really big front pockets. They don't really look like those old style cargo pockets of the 80s but they can hold just as much. When I go hiking, I can put my xe1 w/ the 27 pancake in those pockets w/o any problems. A x100 w/o a lens hood is a tighter squeeze but doable.

Normal pants forget it...

There is hope for that...

Look how cheap a xm1 is compared to a xe1 let alone a xp1.

If u look at their 27 pancake as a indicator, that thing is really stubby. From the stuff I have seen on the web on the x100 and how far inside the body the lens actually sits, I think about anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 may of the lens could end inside the x70 body. It maybe slightly thicker then a gr.. But if u don't wear tight pants, it should be ok.

Anyway... It is still after all just a rumor.

So ... no chance with budgie smugglers then? LOL :D

The GR is fine at 28mm but there are no digital compact normal lensed ( leica LTM + 50/3.5 Elmar equivalent ) cameras. A gap in the market that needs filled IMHO.
Sorry ruled out the DP2 as it's no good in the dark.

Is the X70 going to be made of the same 'impossible' to paint black metal as the X100s ?
