Hey all,

It's been a while since I posted but i was hoping for some advice. I will be travelling to El Nido for a long weekend at the start of March. It looks beautiful.
I only have a 10KG allowance on the prop plane so thought best two only bring my M9P and 2 lenses so that I can actually bring some swimshorts!

I own a 21mm Zeiss f2.8, CV Nokton II 35mm f1.2, CV Nokton 50mm 1.1 and the 50mm Zeiss Sonnar 1.5.

I was thinking of taking the 21mm and the 35mm - Then I could crop tighter if need be?
Would you guys go with that idea? I might bring my flash and cord too, but they don't weigh much!

Any advise greatly appreciated.
Rich

If i have those lenses -- i will either bring the 21+50 or use the 35 alone. enjoy, bring us back some pics...

El Nido in the Philippines?

I'd bring a Nikonos. While the view above water is beautiful, you should see what it looks like below the surface -- absolutely breathtaking.

Bring the widest lens you have -- the 21mm on a fullframe body should suffice.

As a second lens - between the 35 and 50, I'd take the 35mm, since most of your people photos in El Nido are likely to be "envirnmental portraits," so wider than 50 would be better.

Thanks guys,

Yes in the Philippines, Also Coron in Palawan.
I'll go with the wider comment. Makes sense to me too..

I'll upload a few shots when i'm back. With those colours and views I have to be able to get a few good ones.. ;-)

Have a nice day,
Rich

I don't know the area, or what you're likely to encounter, but you might want to thnk of the type of shots you usually take, and ones you've taken in the past....and see which lenses you're most likely to use most often.
IMHO you can get all different kinds of shots, but you will probably already have an "eye" with certain lenses.

FWIW, I'd go with the 21 and probably the 50. You can always crop the 21 a little or move back with the 50, but only you know which you prefer to use.

Either way, enjoy the trip.

Went to the Fla Keys back in late Oct and only took a 35 lux and a good friend loaned my his M9. Didn't miss any other lenses and it was so light and easy. Took it everywhere.
