Homage for John Lennon

Let's not get into some stupid dogma debate, okay? Thanks.

How about conversation? Are certain ideas excluded?

Sure, what would you like to discuss? Photographically and in the spirit of the thread, which is themed "Homage for John Lennon"...

I was involved in the conversation, maybe you have not seen any preceding posts. Someone posted some lyrics, and I made a comment related to it.I am not trying to start a fight. :)

There are good images here, let's post some more related to peace, love and music :)

I add this one with the related story...

It was 1970. I was a little older than twenty. I borrowed from my father his Rolleiflex. And his Volkswagen Beetle too, which I drove many hours to reach the sea, Cannes, South France.

Once arrived I met a group of young buskers playing and singing “Blowing in the wind”. it was a special moment, I still remember it so many years later.

Yes, it was a peaceful moment...

A hundred years ago, or what it seems like, my parents owned a little art store in Paris right by the Centre Pompidou. Bottom floor is where they sold art prints and first floor is where they had little art exhibits.

They hosted a show of a young French painter named Daniel Authouart and they became friends. When Lennon died, DA asked me if I could pose for him for a Lennon painting. I agreed even though Lennon was "the enemy". I was all of 15 or something like that and full on into punk and hardcore :)

Here it is, this is me on the doorway, pretending to blow a harp to the memory of John Lennon.

Well, you quoted my post, I didn't post any lyrics, and made a somewhat inflammatory comment, completely out of context to any prior comments. I can't read your mind or intent from that.

...

I like all the later posts and images posted. :)

Possibly a little tangential to the thread. The building on the left in the background is the hall where Ringo Starr had his first audition with the group .

Yes, John Lennon wrote music that resonated with many baby boomers including me.

During my undergrad years (66-70), I was a DJ for our college radio station and played many tunes of his as well as the Beatles.

For me, my life changed in December of ‘69 when the draft lottery was held. My birthday (June 4) was number 20. I got so drunk that a friend of mine had to register for me for classes the next day. It was for my last semester of college!

Just before going to Vietnam, I had 18 shots made with air guns, using both of my arms. I have quite a few, mostly color slides, I made while there. Haven’t even showed any of them to my wife. Maybe someday.

We shouldn’t of been there.

But thanks for going, Bill. I bailed out of college in my junior year 1962 to join USAF, and since I was assigned to MATS I got those spray shots too. Sent me to Asia also, but Asia Minor (Turkey) where I made some color slides...
