I use the Unicolour kit and have been since last summer. Dead simple and quick. The Developer and Blix get put in the sink filled with hot water to warm up the bottles, the Stabilizer stays at room temp. Put everything back in their respective jugs and reuse until you get about 8-10 rolls through 1 liter of chemicals, then dispose of properly.
I had my first attempt at C41 a couple of weeks ago. Never developed colour film before but I have some experience with black and white. I used the Tetenal kit -- I followed the instructions and both the rolls I have developed so far have come out perfectly. It's really not difficult.
I've done both C-41 and E-6 without a processor. All chemicals and the film tank in a bucket filled with hot water. With E-6 you have to watch the temperature, but actually with C-41 the only really critical phase is just the developer (I think the tolerances for all the other phases are quite big). After all, with the Tetenal kit it's almost easier than B&W.
