I'd really like to be able to mount filters on this thing.

Given the scarcity and price of the OEM lenshood/filter adapter,
has anyone come up with some clever homemade solution?

TIA,
Chris

I've got a GS645 coming (just won on eBay). I also have a collection of various size series type adapters and filters. I plan on trying to experiment on this one, I'll report back with results.

Keep us posted!!! I have one of these jewels and would like to use some filters with my b&w.

Hi Chris

I have made a filter Holder for my GS645w using a wide lens hood glued to a cokin P holder.

The shape of the lens hood allows the filters to be seated infront of the protective bar, that stops you mounting directly to the lens. I dont know if this would work for you.

It works fine - however using grad filters is a different ball game and requires some trial and error.

Success! 38mm to Series VI adapter

Success! 38mm to Series VI adapter

Greetings,

This week my "new" GS645 folder arrived from Canada. Really nice shape, the bellows is a bit worn with some liquid patching having been done (no surprise). I have yet to put film through it, but will this weekend.

Anyway, I figured out how to mount a filter. I used Super Glue to stick a Series VI yellow filter to the front of the shutter........

......JUST KIDDING!

I have a pretty good stockpile of misc. filter adapters and started going through them, figuring that since the front has no threads I could jam a slip on adapter ring inside the ring where the official Fujica adapter fits.

I tried various sizes on hand and found that the one that I needed I don't have <figures> . A slip on Kodak Series VI slip on 36mm filter adapter should fit right inside the non-threaded ring in place of the Fujica adapter.

Now...I don't recommend this to everyone, but I found an alternate solution that doesn't require glue either. I picked up an Ednalite filter fitting kit off eBay a couple weeks ago. All the adapter rings are threaded. I had a wacky thought that perhaps one of the threaded adapters will fit since there is a lip on that non-threaded front shutter ring on the GS645 folder.

Sure enough, I threaded in an Ednalite #612 38.0mm to Series VI adapter ring to the front of the lens. There is enough clearance to put on the filter and retaining ring, but no room for a hood. Good enough for me.

I'll post another note with a photo later....

I own sets of screw-in filters for black and white,
the smallest being 46 and 49mm sizes.

What adapter(s) could I use for these?

TIA,
Chris

Step up ring

Step up ring

Hey Chris,

You bring up a good point! Keep in mind that the front ID ring of the lens is NOT threaded, there is however a slight lip for the Fujica snap-in adapter and that is how my 38mm to Series VI adapter screwed in.

Since I have a lot of old Series type filter stuff, the first thought that occurred to me was series filters when I got the GS645.

I just pulled out a metric ruler and checked the outside diameter of the assembled Series VI adapter that I'm using and found it to be 49mm.

If you could find one, perhaps a 38mm to 46mm or 49mm step up ring might work.
