Took the M9 out for a spin this year (been using an M7 for the last two). It's great how either cameras "blend in to the crowd" better than a DSLR would, for some reason.

Some snaps (all with a 35 'Cron, except one which was taken with a 15mm Heliar, which I'm sure you can spot):

Awesome shots. I really must go see some sevens games sometime. It's fast, fun and the crowds are great (as you've captured so nicely).

I agree - all of the above! As you point out, aside from the matches themselves, just doing a walk around the stadium with a camera is a good chance to catch a few shots. The atmosphere is fun and I will be back again next year for sure.

Never been, but usually watch the matches when they are on here (Wellington), as we have a team entered usually. Great atmos though, the TV coverage when it is on at home shows a hilarious crowd, great to watch.
Nice shots.

It's a fun event. Hope this color photo doesn't spoil this thread.

HK Sevens

The best annual party in Asia without a doubt. I have been for the last 25 years and each year is better. Mostly I have been too scared to take a good camera as there is a lot of Carlsberg being splashed about. Given these photos, the results may well be worth the risk.

@Johann: thank you.
@Runny: while I was shooting photos in the South Stand, somebody from behind decided to splash his 'beverage' when his team scored a try. We all got a piece of it and the beverage was warm. It was not coffee and I can't recall the stadium selling any warm beverage...

That is [disgusting/weird/all of the above!].

I still do risk taking my M9 to places wherein it may get splashed as I would feel worse if I missed as shot than having to take my camera in for repair (still under warranty!). Thankfully, it's never been splashed on.
