Hood and Fliter for Summaron 35 f3.5

I'm just waiting for a recently acquired Summaron 35 f3.5 LTM to come in. I believe this lens has a A36 filter size. I already have a Fikus lens hood but I read somewhere it could cause some vignetting even at the 35mm setting. Are there other alternative hood and UV filter I could get other than the Leica ones?

FOOKH tend to be quite expensive, though. I've found SOOGZ copies and generic 39mm wide angle hoods on eBay and contemplated going that route, but honestly I've just been going hoodless. My Summaron's quite hazy, and I still don't mind the look.

I seem to recall that the Summaron 35/3.5 is threaded 39mm filter size. As for the hood, use a generic hood or the ITDOO hood.

Yes, the FOOKH lens hood tends to be expensive and hard to find. I just got the Summaron 35 and as usual it has a little bit of haze but I'm testing it now and see how it performs. I have some ideas of using some adapters so I could use a generic 39mm filter and hood but it will make the lens physically longer defeating the reason I bought it in the first place. I already have two other 35mm lens that are faster and maybe sharper but a lot bigger. The Summaron attracted me because it is compact.

I don't have a summaron, but I faced a similar problem wanting a hood for my Canon 35/3.2 Serenar. Which also accepts A36 filters.

I tried a 37mm clamp on DV square hood, it did not fit.
I made a new rubber seal, it fit snugly but caused vignette.
I filed the hoods face, almost to far, still it caused vignette.

Of course my lens was not designed with a matching hood.
The front element is set further back inside the barrel.
Typical just a filter would suffice as a hood. But in some cases flare and
Low contrast showed their ugly faces.

Phase 2
I bought a lot of A36 filters all with unusable glass.
I also purchased one of those generic vented lens hoods.

With a little work, I managed to fit the hood onto the filter permanently.
I then carefully filed the front face of th hood.

I took roughly a 1/4 inch off the face, this was about 5/8 of what was originally there, to eliminate the possibility of vignette.

I was left with a slim A36 vented hood.
It works nicely, and I've pondered making a few more.

There are a few variations of the screwmount Summaron.
Late lenses indeed did have E39 threads.

Most common however is the A36.
The correct hood for these lenses is the FOOKH like stated above^
Cheaper than a SOOGZ in most cases. Although I hesitate to say cheap.

Soogz copy and vented leica 50 mm shades are ok for 35 mm. It is printed right on them and I use then that way all the time.
