I am awaiting my ga645zi from KEH, scheduled for tomorrow. It will come without a hood and lens cap. I've searched about here as on eBay and haven't been particularly successful, but then I'm no expert on search functions. So... if any of you all could direct me to a site or url to where I might pick these up, I'd be grateful.

unfortunately you missed the hood on keh, it's called a "shade" (by missed i mean you could have ordered it with the camera, they have it in stock)

if i remember correctly it's quite fiddly trying to use the lens cap with the hood because the hood tapers inward, as you can see here:

didn't see the cap anywhere in a quick search, but they seem to come up on KEH every once in a while.

The shade is very minimal and I'm not sure it would block all that much light. The Fuji EBC coating is very flare resistant, and I really don't remember getting any flare on any images with or without the shade in all the years I used my zi. I just sent my GA645zi with cap and shade and case and instruction manual off to KEH, so they'll have another shade in stock soon, unless they bundle it all together (they'll probably sell the camera, case, strap and cap together and split out the shade and manual). Any 52mm cap will work if you just want to protect the lens.

Turns out also that in going through my gear cabinet I have a couple of 52mm UV filters and on CP filter, so, I'll be good to go with what I've got since flare-resistance seems well taken care of by your account, drew, and the 52 filter will take care of protection. It's actually a petal-style hood. It seems to work well, but don't try a generic as it blocks the viewfinder & focus-assist (don't ask!). I've seen a bit if flare without it when shooting w/the sun to the side & forward. Enjoy your Zi, I love mine!

Their shipping (and the customs processing FedEx will do for you whether you want it or not) will usually amount to four or five times that when you order similar items from Europe.
