Hood for 28mm F2.0 Summicron-M ASPH

Whats wrong with the cool VC hood? Its ventalated perfectly so you can see right thru it. The Leica will block the view (Ithink)

Purely cosmetic issue for me - I just like the shape of the Summicron hood better.

Well, Andy K, I think the Leica 28mm hood you fancy will not attach easily to the Voigtländer 40mm/1.4. I have the 28mm hood and the Zeiss 50mm/2 Planar ZM which has the same bayonet mount as the 40mm/1.4, and I use the Voigtländer LH 5 hood (the one made for the 40mm) which fits perfectly (and is less costly than the Zeiss hood.) The Leica 28mm hood is bigger and uses a different attachment method than the bayonet mount the 50mm/2 and 40mm/1.4 lenses have in common. You would need to by jury rig something to keep the hood from falling off (tape, etc., not so elegant). Also the Leica 28mm hood is big and obscures a lot of lower right hand viewfinder real estate, despite the cut out. Just thought you should know, in case you have not played with a real one, and before you spend a C-note to try out something that may not work as expected.

SDK, thanks for the info. After some research earlier today I came to the same conclusion (not the right size or mount). Well, it looks like maybe I am just trying to make my non-Leica system look more like a Leica...?-) Scary, because it means I will probably break down and get the M7/Summicron kit I've been craving after lately. This is madness...
