Been looking for the hood for leica 35/2 ver.4, I think it is 12524, but cannot find one anywhere. Is this a really rare hood, can I use any other hood in it's place?

Here's a 12526 for sale in the uk. Will this fit a v4? (I have no connection with the seller.)

Yes, it should work. The advantage of the newer 12526 I've found is the costly little flap cover stays on tighter than on the 12524 which may have been replaced by the 12526.
Be sure to mount the lens by the base, not the hood. V4's can get loose heads by any torque on the hoods.

Mine says 12524 M2/35. But it looks similar to current hood for 35mm Summicron ASPH or 28mm Elmarit ASPH.

I had both 12524 and 12526. They are pretty much the same thing.
