Seeing this post by Joe in the "W/NW Your Kit" thread (nice kit, btw), I was reminded that my Canon 100/3.5 is currently lacking a hood. Poke me if I'm blind, but I can't seem to find which clip-on hood mates to this lens (34 mm filter diameter). It'd be nice if Canon's Camera-Museum site had some more complete historical data. I daresay the RFF mind seems to know more than the folks that own the trademark...

I guess this is a good question for Joe, now that I think of it. Thanks for the help.

I think Frank S. used an empty T.P. cardboard roll. I tried it and it fits, just paint it black and if you lose it no big deal.

Joe just sold his 100 with a hood. Look in the classified's.

Yeah, I saw that, but the picture is teeny tiny. I'll give Joe a shout.

Wayne: I love that idea. I wonder, however, whether the later all-black 100/3.5 would work best in that case (40 mm filter diameter), unless you know of some really skinny T.P. rolls. Eh; I could always see if a 35 mm film canister would work. Apparently, they're always a possible solution to a problem. Kind of like duct tape.

In fact, I imagine that they'd work nicely together...

mine was the canon hood marked 100/3.5.
i had seen only a couple on ebay and finally won one but it cost nearly as much as the lens.
it's a clamp on as were many in those days as canon's own filters did not have a thread on the outside but were flat.
hard to find.

do a search for 34mm hoods and you may find some cheap ones from obscure cameras.
i used one like that till the original came along. it has since been sold.

Thanks, joe. I was beginning to think it was a similarly "undesignated" hood - that is, unlike the T-60-2 and such. I've seen that one price pretty high, as well.

Thanks for your help. I'll keep an eye out for the odd "34 mm" generic hood for now.
