Does anyone have experiencing in selecting a hood for the Dual Range Summicron on the M8? I recently purchased one and had it modified by DAG, but the lens is hoodless.

I was considering this one -- http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/142939-REG/Leica_12549_Lens_Hood_for_50mm.html

It's a 39mm screw-in, from what I can tell. I will be using this with the UV/IR cut filter and was concerned about possible vignetting.

Thanks, and if anyone has a better suggestion for a hood I'd love to hear it as well.

I used a Leica #12538 on mine and it worked fine as I recall. Less money than the 12585. I saw on @ KEH for $35, which is a good price.

The original form is the old straight sided (sort of conical shaped) one. The more modern version with rounded sides that curve back and have cut outs for the rangefinder window are probably more functional but look less authentic.
