Hi all,
I bought a Cron 35mm version 3 (black painted), but it had not a hood shade. I was trying to find a hood on eBay and I prefer to have a 12526 hood (for ver. 4). I'm wondering that it could be used for my ver. 3 or not?
Anyone here can give me an advice?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards,
tungh

Essentially, no. Square hoods 12526/12524 maintain orientation with protruding tabs that fit cutouts in the v4 barrel. The v3 lacks the cutouts and will, therefore, cause the square hood to sit with clips unsecured. You could eliminate the tabs but, either way, the square hood will tend to rotate and vignette the image. Your period-correct hood is the circular, vented 12504. Also usable are the older hoods IROOA/ITDOO. And, yes, I have 'em all.

Rico, do you know if 12504 will mount on the later v4 summicron?

I just checked ebay prices for a clean 12504 hood, (been putting it off buying one).
what a difference a year makes.

Interestingly, a true replica exists for 12504: 120694071743@ebay. Not cheap, but new, and cheaper than a beat up original at current prices.

From the back, IROOA, ITDOO, 12504, 12524, and 12526. The latter two are essentially identical. Interestingly, I got the 12526 with my Elmarit ASPH 28!

Well, it is so nice! I reserved one shop on ebay for 12504 hood. Thank you Rico, hope to see you in Vietnam!

Yes. Summicrons with cutouts (v4, ASPH) can accept all hoods shown, although I don't know about reversibility. I think IROOA is the best choice for good looks, compactness and build quality.Rico, do you know if 12504 will mount on the later v4 summicron?
