Kansas. OMG. Kansas.
I just received a gorgeous silver chrome 85/2 but no hood. I understand the screw-in type hood has 48mm diameter thread but cannot find a metal "tele" hood in that thread size. Would appreciate ideas...

Occasionally 48mm hoods show up.

There are also 48mm to series VII converters with series VII hoods that you could use (like what comes stock with the Nikkor 85/2).

The correct hood is a T50 or T50-2 from Canon (push on) that should not be too expensive.

Best,

Roland.

Thank you Roland! I just found and bought the T50-2 hood, it was very affordable. I have a Canon P with a chrome GMP grip coming and can't wait to slap that 85/2 hooded bad boy on it. I was going to just use the Canon 7 body for my LTMs but I keep trying to use it's tiny lightmeter readout which gives me quite a headache 🙂

- Cheers,

Well, the T50-2 is "officially" for the black 85/1.9 Canon LTM. But it will work perfectly on this lens. It may not reverse nicely on the lens for storage.

The "official" hood is chrome, with Series VII threads on the rear, coupled with a Series VII to 48mm screw-in adapter. Ideally, there's a 48mm reverse threaded cap to go over the adapter when the hood is reversed on the lens for storage. Early versions engraved Serenar, later ones engraved Canon Lens.

Alternately, this hood may be found with a Series VII to 50mm push-on adapter, particularly the early Serenar version. Works just as well, although more prone to scratch the lens barrel. There's even a 52mm slip-on lens cap that fits over the adapter when it's all reversed for storage.
