Hey all,

I've just picked up a Canon 135mm on the cheap. It came without caps or hood, so I'm now looking for something to protect the pristine front element. Does anyone have any suggestions how to do that (preferably with a hood/cap combo) without spending $81 (sorry Joe!)?

Thanks,

Robin.

48mm is much more common than Joe's 34mm hood. Filters are also much easier to get. The cap from a Canonet will fit it.

Or get a 48-49 step-up ring and use a 49mm hood.
I heard that the Pentax hood for 135mm (49mm thread) goes well with it.

canon makes a hood for the 135 but they also have a t 50 hood that works.
i think ritz cameras has one for 15 bucks in it's online inventory.

I second backalley's suggestion on the T-50. It's a nice clamp-on hood that cam be used on any number of lenses with 48 to 50mm diameters. Given the prices of other vintage lens hoods, I can't figure out why the T-50 is so cheap.

Thanks for this guys. I'll definitely look into this T-50. Not sure I'll find one in the UK though, but we'll see. Not sure if I can wait until I get a cap before trying the 135!
