Hi Friends,

On behalf of the Zeiss cause, in its broader sense, would you mind to detail the thread size of the different G system lens hoods ?

I don't think I need calliper accuracy, and ~ + - 1mm will be fair enough for me.

]Thanks,
Ruben

Ruben I don't have a clue about the thread size, but there is somebody on ebay who sells very cheap copies of the G hoods out of Shanghai. they are not a gorgeous as the real thing but they do the job.

That's the problem steamer, it seems that beyond the owners no one else has any clue.

Cheers,,

I am a proud owner of these hoods I just moved my calipers to a more logical place but I can't remember where that more logical place is now, so I have measured the hood with a ruler and it is about 46mm which jibes with the instruction pamphlet that calls for 46 mm filters.

And the Hologon does not accept filters.

Actually a stack of 2 old 55mm filters with their glass removed acts as a hood for the 21 mm for me. There is none available from Contax.

I think this information is pretty easy to find on the net. Anyhow, its 46mm for the 28-45-90 combo.

I have one of the Chinese GG-2 knock-offs coming in the mail any day now.

Ruben- the 28, 35, 45 & 90 all have 46mm diameter, standard pitch threads (standard as in the same as a B&W or Hoya filter) The 21 uses a 55mm standard thread for filters, but there is no dedicated hood. The 16 can only accept the gradation filter- though I don't know how that fits on, and I do not have the zooms info.

Ruben,

The 21 uses a 55mm hood/filter thread. The 28, 35, 45 and 90 have a 46mm hood/filter thread. I believe that the zoom is also 46mm.

The zeiss hoods will take generic clip on 55mm filters to act as hood caps I use the 28mm hood on my Kievs, for the J12 and J3, with a 40.5 to 46 mm step ring.
