Horizont and Horizon-202

WOW! I entered the FSU forum becasue I will be traveling to Russia in May and I thought I might do some research on FSU cameras in case I came across something that might be worth buying. I had totally forgotten about these Horizon cameras. I have always wanted a pano camera and had forgotten how reasonable these can be.

So, I have a couple of questions:
1) What FSU Cameras/lenses might I run across when I travel to Russia in May and what should I look for as far as condition is concerned? I would, for example, like to find a Jupiter 8 lens or other screw-mount lenses for my Bessas.
2) What are the differences between the various Horizon cameras? I know that shutter speed range is different on some of the cameras, but are there certain lenses/versions to stay away from? Do any of them offer lens shift, like some of the Noblex cameras do?

Any info and suggestions would be appreciated.

Go to the source, but don't take too seriously their prices (inflated I think):

BTW, I bought my 202 before a hollydays trip to Istambul, and I am only sorry I didn't bought two instead of one.

I checked out the websites that were recommended. The info. on them was very helpful, thanks. I am still wondering if there are any models I should avoid or if they are all pretty good.

Also, from where should I buy one? I saw cheaper prices on theBay from what looks like dealers. Can anyone recommend a reputable company with decent prices?

Kevin hi,
The prices at www Zenit may be perhaps the highest worldwide for Horizons. Well, the truth is that there are some shops in Germany that super inflate prices so much, that they may be holding the actual lead.

Prices at Rugfit, are lower than at www.Zenit, but this is not a big deal too.

I bought my Horizon from Yuri Davidenko, owner of www.dvdtechnik.com. Sometimes, in other transactions with him, I have had some problems in contacting him, but never with the gear I got. Most of the chances are that if you mention your intention of buying an Horizon, he will jump rather fast.

I am not sure he will have all Horizon models available, or the contrary, but in my case he sold me an absolutely new from the factory Horizon, not listed in the usual list. These guys at Zenit, it seems, are still assesing the market and making some trials. By no means this is to be understood as faulty cameras. They have a lot of experience and will not deliver a new bad model.

This is my best for you. Anyway DVDTECHNIK prices can be hold by you as the average commonly accepted for the product, by people in bussiness.

Cheers,
Ruben

Now, not a bad idea would be to choose your preferred model and ask most of ebay FSU sellers, one by one, if they can specially achieve it for you and at what price. But I expect Davidenko will rank among the cheapest.
