A2. Leica service won't be able to repair it. They will offer a replacement camera (ie M9) at a discounted rate.

And that is what a good company would do.

I know of one case where exactly that has happened. You might not be happy with the price of the changeover. What trade-in would you expect to get, even for a perfect M8?
