The annual Star City Motor Madness Hotrod and Custom Car Show was a great success this year, with well over 400 entries. On Thursday, the 22nd of June, I shot some photos of the display at one of the corporate sponsers (just for myself, I wasn't getting paid). Then on Friday, it was 'Cruise Night', as the rodders went up and down the main drag in town. On Saturday, it was time for the static displays in downtown Roanoke, VA. Having already used three cameras the two days before, I loaded up two more, and headed downtown. In the bag, I had a Panasonic TZ-3, and a Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim ( I know, but I was shooting it as a complement to a friend). Around the neck, was a Nikon F2S, and the Yashica GX I got from Frontman. That is one sweet camera, and if you ever get a hankering for a deluxe compact, it's the one to get.
Anyway, it was great having the two cameras at the constant ready. Seemed like the good old days. And I didn't see anyone else shooting film, or using two or more cameras, so I was probably a little out of place. I did get asked by one couple about my rig. They were shooting his-and-hers Pentax DSLR's. I showed them all four cameras, and they smiled and went on their way. Probably thought I was a nut.
So here are some samples from the roll of Kodak TMAX 100 I put through the GX:
