Well the movie of the week for me was requiem for a dream, it's a great one..Actors i've never seen before, depressing minute after minute, one of thsoe rare movies where the title incredibly fully express the title...The best that handled that issue so far...

The way the director expressed the characters desires, dreams and reality, connecting them to each other...The way their dreams were deteriorating second after second...

Yesterday i watched u've got mail over and over again, i love this movie, i bet this was my billionth time watching it...After watching it the 1st time in theatre, it became my addiction, very smooth...

There's a lot of chit chat about movies, but i believe it's great to discuss them together...

I want to watch madgascar badly 😀 , i'll take my 6 years old cousin and watch it with kids, it's gonna be great i know...

requiem for a dream is one of my favorite movie. i watched it in the theatre, and sat there for a good while after the movie was finished. i later bought the dvd later but can never watch it again. my friend joked and said this is the movie to show their kids to stay away from drugs. i'm still waiting for darren aronofsky's new film. you watched "pi"?

I guess I'm a 1930's type movie viewer--I like films that let me escape. I'm glad there are films the vividly show the nasty side of life (maybe it will scare the hell out of the right people) but I can get depressed enough about the state of the world without going to a movie to see more of it. I'm an unabashed fan of the first three Star Wars movies and the Star Trek movies. My favorite mover of all time is probably "Lonesome Dove" which was made for TV. I can also watch Robert Redford in "Jerimiah Johnson" or "Three Days of the Condor" several times a year, as well as Dustin Hoffman in "Marathon Man" (although the book was better).

Requiem for a Dream was THE most depressing movie I've ever watched. My wife & I saw it on a Saturday night and I could not get it out of my head all the next day. To the point where I was looking forward to going to back to a work Monday at a job I hated just get my mind on something else. Very powerful stuff.

And yes, it should be mandatory viewing in high schools.

I just re-watched 8 1/2 from Fellini.. brilliant movie! It is dreamlike, surreal in places, a carnival feeling in other places.. the single best film about filmmaking ever made. It's beautiful to watch too, shot in black and white. Worth a watch!

Last one I saw was 'Crustaces et coquillages' - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0428430/ - a great, really hilarious comedy.

And I just won an Ebay auction for a DVD of one of my all-time favorite movies - Peter Bogdanovich's 'Lart Picture Show'.

My sister's boyfriend was the gaffer for Pi. It is a cool film. I really liked how all the underground scenes were shot very grainy, a more trix look, and the above ground/outside scenes were shot on something more like plus-x. It was very cool...

Oh, by the way if you are interested in black and white cinematography, it is hard to beat Ingmar Bergman. I also loved L'Avventura by Antonioni. Lately though, I have been watching a lot of of Mystery Science Theater 3000 dvds because my cheeseball content has been low lately.

Chubby Rain.
The Mission.
City of God.

Ronin.
Le Samourai.
Ghost Dog.
Love in the afternoon.

More later...

and as for it being mandatory for highschoolers to be force to watch requiem for a dream, I think "Ass to ass" would be a tad inappropriate.

Well, I love the Patriot, Quigley Down under, Enemy at the gate, Braveheart and Of God's and Generals, but my all time favorite is The last of the Mohicans. I am a history buff especially American.

I am an Akira Kurosawa fan, from Rashomon, to Kagemusha, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, etc. The bloodier, the better 😉. Takeshi Kitano's remake of the legendary Zatoichi was pretty good, too.

Aronofsky spend $60,000 for Pi. I wonder for that budget if they can afford using film?

Although I am a fan of film noir, like Chinatown. I always find myself drawn back to westerns, which was practically the only kind of movie that I watched, when I was a kid.

Two of my favorites:when I was younger, I loved to watch the last gunfight in For a Few Dollars More. I have also grown fond of the walk that the Wild Bunch makes in the movie of the same name.

For lighter fair, I have probably watched The Thin Man hundreds of times.
