How about some love for the 150 for the Mamiya 6

I've had the Mamiya 6 with all three lenses for about 2 years now. I absolutely love the system, but most of the time when I go out to shoot I take the 50 and 75. And when I did get the 150 out it would be for landscape shots at infinity.

Well yesterday I made myself go out with just the 150 lens to truly discover what I had. I focused close, I shot wide open, I did things I've never done with that lens. It really wasn't as hard to focus as I thought it might be. But last evening when I viewed the film on the light table with a loupe..... WOW!!! What an unbelievably sharp piece of glass. And all my shots were in perfect focus.

Nice shots. I have the 50 and 150 (would love to get my hands on a 75). The 150 is knock out. Sure, it's not the most convenient or comfortable to compose - but it delivers great results. I've used it mostly for landscapes.

I also have the Mamiya 6 with all 3 lenses for over 15 years now. I agree that the 150 is a stellar performer. I have printed up to 4 x 4 feet from my negs and they are tack sharp even at that size. I only seem to use the 75mm lens when I need to use the close up adapter. This also allows very large prints.
In reality, all three lenses are great lenses.

I am glad that you are enjoying that lens also. 🙂

seems it gets a bad rap for supposedly being difficult to focus, not focussing close enough and having bad/ugly bokeh. in the past 12 or so years i've never been bothered by any of those "problems". i haven't used it a great a deal, but this thread has given me a "nudge" to use it more often.

now, i've got to go digging and find some images made with it and post them.
