How accurate are serial number lists for IIF bodies?

I've discovered a red dial IIF that has a maximum speed of 1/500. Serial number 675,590. Serial number lists show the changeover to a 1/1000 maximum speed at 675,001. Are the lists simply inaccurate, or is this an anomaly? Anyone else find a camera body out of the range of the established lists, or does the Leica Wiki use inaccurate info?

Hi,

They are fairly accurate but can be distorted by events like repairs, upgrades, making one good one out of two duds and so on. Leitz also allocated batches of numbers but didn't use them all, so there are numbers without cameras.
