Leica LTM How can one determine the age of an Elmar Lens

Is there a posted resource that can identify the year a Leica (Leitz) lens was manufactured? Since all Leica lenses have serial numbers, I would think that there must be a way to track down that info.

Just to muddy the waters, some early Elmars (prior to 1933) did not have a serial number.

Some uncoated lenses were later sent in for coating, maybe your Elmar was one of them?
