How did I do this??

Can anybody help me understand what might have happened to this frame here? I happen to like it but doubt very much I could ever do it again if I tried. The rest of the roll was normal with no light leaks or anything. It kinda looks like sprocket hole streaking due to over agitation, but then again I don't think so.

Nikon FM3A and a 50mm 1.2 AI lens. Fuji Acros developed in Rodinal 1+50. I agitate gently for 30 secs and then two inversions every minute.

The image is broken, but if you mean the photo of the woman with the Nikon F2 around her neck in your link, I don't see any streaks. There is a lot of dust embedded in the image, but no streaks.

I could certainly be wrong but this looks as if it were the first photo on this roll. I would guess that there was some light leakage into the cassette as you loaded it. Once you advanced the film past that point it doesn't show up again.

Hope the links work now. I was referring to a close-up of the F2 girl's face. It was a mid roll shot.

I think I just found out what went wrong. The image next to it in my LR catalogue had a big ugly patch on it which must originate from bad loading of the developing spool.

Film touching on the processing reel is possible but I'll say I e never seen a pattern like this In fifty + years of processing

Did you bend a bit of a crease in that particular frame when loading the film on the developing reel?
It looks sort of like that. I've seen similar at the ends of hand rolled bulk film when I put a bit too much into the cartridge and get a bit of a bend/crease.

Agree with F16, what I call (possibly incorrectly even) "cinch marks".
Bent/twisted film, usually when I load and the reel is "wet", or just tight. Tapping the reel as I rotate usually gets it going, but not always.

Yeas I think I must have made crease of some sort when loading the film. It was mid roll, but it might very well have been wet when I loaded it. I only recently started developing films so still got more to learn. The pattern is a little weird though. There are both lighter and darker areas. The lighter areas must originate from the emulsion contacting the next 'row', the darker flame shaped areas confuse me a little more - maybe these contact points made the developer stream unevenly over the negative creating those marks.

I agree, something got off the track. If it is any solace, I've done it many times. Not so much lately as I have finally found a reel that doesn't P me O.
