How Do I Mount My Prints?

I will soon be displaying some of my prints for purchase in a friend's gallery locally and i was wondering if anyone could help me with a little advice:

What method do you use (or would you advise) to mount your prints for sale? I’ve read that there are many ways of doing it - I want to sandwich my print between a mounting backing board and a 'mat' or as I know it a mount on the front (i have a supplier for these things). The thing that's foxing me is all of the different methods of adhesion - the hinge method seems to be the best option because the print can be easily removed from the mount if the new owner should so wish (even if that does open a can of worms on where to sign your print).

Can anyone also recommend a product and supplier (if you know one in the UK) for the adhesive materials involved with mounting?

Cut your foam board and mats to size and use your innermost mat to position your print. I normally use 3M 77 spray adhesive. Tape an edge of your print to the foam board and use that like a hinge. Spray both sides, let dry for a few moments, then swing the print down. Use a roller or your hand and a cloth to press the print down, working from the center. You can remove the tape then if you want.

Sign or initial the print above the mat line so you don't have to cut an annoying notch in the mat(s). Tell anybody who does not think you should sign your photos that you didn't want them to have a print anyway.

Fantastic advice! thank you both very much for your fast replies! archival cloth tape seems to be the stuff i need. thank you for the links and for the advice on signing the prints - that's the bit that worries me the most to be honest. are you saying that it's acceptible for me to sign over the actual photograph it's self (in an unabtrusive way naturally) as a very unknown artist?
