How do you shoot on the street?

well, i was going to say, get a morning reading and expose for the highlights (i know, i'm a rebel), with yer shutter speed at 1/250 or 1/500. after lunch, take another reading, again set yer exposure for highlights, 1/250 or 1/500. mid-afternoon, take yer third reading, 1/250 or 1/500; late afternoon, 1/125 -1/250.

on bright days, f/11 and 1/500 in the sun. f/8 and 1/250 or 1/125 in shaded areas. adjust accordingly as the light wanes...once you get to know the light in your region, it becomes second nature.

hardly ever use a meter anymore, except to check myself in very tricky light (early mornings and deep dusk).

I have the same camera and used to do the same thing.

I don't trust my zone focusing though so I set the focus all the way to one side, (near) then move the barrell one way until I get alignment. Practice that for a while and you get fast at focusing.

Went back today & had much better results. The camera felt responsive in my hands. Came home & developed a roll already. From what I can see, hanging to dry they look good. Can't wait to scan them in. Just wish I didn't have to go back to work tomorrow. You guys give good advise. I appreciate it.

Yeah, work does tend to get in the way of life, doesn't it?

I've really enjoyed your thread. Thanks. Especially nightfly's comment about minimizing fuss with the camera. Good street advice.

What is that you don't trust about zone focusing?

I do similar, but keep the focus tab straight down, which on the CV 35 2.5 is four feet. I like tabs for that purpose.
