I have a bunch of circular filters, mostly 52mm

I'd like to store them in a way that is easy to identify and access them.

I was thinking of making some kind of case out of wood. Or maybe using a CD-book.

If I had a sheet of 1/4" plastic I bet I could cut that material with a jigsaw and fit something inside a suitcase that holds filters in a nice way. But I don't where to buy sheets of plastic...

How do you guys store your filters?

Thanks,
Craig

There are commercial pouches that have clear pockets...I label them with a Sharpie.........also If they are the same size I will make a stack VERY loosely then put the stack into a clear plastic sandwich bag. I have so many filters that I need to use both methods. B&H has the pouches as do other vendors.

Stacked, with end caps or with a cheap-n-nasty second-hand filter on either end, preferably with an X marked on it to remind you.

Cheers,

R.

Thanks for chiming in, I have seen the sandwich bag style storage. What I'm interested in is probably more like a suit case with levels... I guess I'll have to make it myself unless I see something similar.

To save space, stack them together as suggested and use some metal stack caps like these for extra protection.

These caps are very cheap, give adequate protection and double up as a lens cap should you loose one on an assignment.

Thanks also for chiming in :) I currently have been stacking them and have those metal end caps - but I keep getting filters stuck together and it's irritating.

What really interests me is a method of storage that makes them ultra-accessible, well stacked, and sensibly protected.

Maybe I'll invent something :)

Filter wallet. Several. (snip)

Ditto. Seprate wallet for different size filters. When the number of filters exceed the capacity of the wallet, I organize into different wallets according to type of filter: e.g., B&W and CC filters in one; star and soft-focus in another.

filter box?

i use an old plastic floppy disc case, very good if you can source one and they have flick partitions keep your eye open in thrift shops:eek:
