I don't know, it must be me, but I have a deuce of a time focusing M lenses on my Fuji X-E1.
It's not only you... It was rough for me too. I'd rather use the native AF lenses.

My Nex F3 with add on EVF also has the option to turn off the LCD completely and the EVF on only when you move it to your eye.
In some situations the LCD is ideal. And even if it isn't, it isn't a problem most often. You can hold the camera steady even when using LCD, not with really long lenses, but with short tele and wider it is no problem. If you find your eyesight interferes with you holding your camera, maybe you can use reading glasses.
One of the great thing about the LCD is the possibility to frame instantly without bringing the camera to your eye. In a sense it makes you less notable. IMHO of course.
