I'm down to my last few rolls of CHS 50, which I love for its delicate tones, especially when developed in Prescysol EF.

I was saddened when it went out of production and I missed the opportunity to buy up remaining stocks.

I'm now considering alternatives: I've not used Silvermax yet and it seems out of stock from UK suppliers at the moment. For those who have, how does it compare to CHS 50.

I also see that they're planning to re-introduce CHS 100, but I never used the old version of that.

Any alternative suggestions - Rollei 80s?

I do use Ilford films but find they give a more modern look than the old style Adox films.

I've started using Fomapan 100 as an alternative to CHS 100 and so far it's looking good.

I think Silvermax is a modern-type emulsion, rather than the old-school CHS emulsions. For Ilford, FP4+ or PAN F would be a better match, rather than the Ilford Delta range.

I find I can get a nice old-fashioned (but still high quality) look from FP4+ in Rodinal. I certainly much prefer it to Fomapan 100.

Thanks for the clarification.
It's interesting that they are also making 110 film cartridges (from the website).

The sharpness of the Efke single layer films were great but the films can not be made anymore because the machinery is already gone in Croatia.
Silvermax is a copy from Agfa Scala 200, also used in the Adox program for cine film. With their special developer used for negative film too.
For fine grain and sharpness around iso 50 you can use the Retro 80s or PanF+. Alternative Acros 100 or TMax 100.
