Just a quick question to the owners of silver coloured Zeiss ZM lenses: how does the finish wear over time? How easily is it scratched? How does this compare to the finish on the black lenses?

Literally, a superficial question, admittedly.

hm...thats in interesting question, I would be interested to hear about this as well. My black 35 skopar pancake 2 has not worn quite as well as I would have expected and I hear the back zm lenses are the same. When I mentioned this to my old man he told me it was just vanity :)

I don't think it's vanity at all. When I pay large dollars for a product, I'd like to know how the product stands up over time. It seems a reasonable question.

almost every piece of gear that i ever had (if bought new) looked new when i sold it.
no difference with the zi/zm gear.
it goes from bag to hand for shooting and when shooting is done it goes back into the bag. my bags have inserts so the gear never hits anything hard.

I came here to ask this exact same question.

Black or silver body (and matching lens)? Which one looks better after two years of daily use, but no dropping or banging against anything hard or abrasive. No exposure to sand or salt or rainwater.

Just over the shoulder wear for out and about photos in the city and everyday errands.

in then end it seems that chrome wears a lot better then black, take a look at all those m2's and m3's out there and compare them to m6's of equal use.

The Zeiss body and lenses are all painted whether they are black or silver. I only have the black, but can't imagine that the silver is any better or worse.
