How durable are prosumer DSLRs?

"Nano-crystal coating? How about some caesar dressing too..."

Hilarious. And I love all the aggressive comments - fascinating to see what really makes people upset in this day and age! 🙂

I found it pretty amazing how good the pictures looked after all the abuse, including cracked lens elements after driving nails with the glass.

Takeaway for me... Less concern over that little speck of dust on the lens 😉

I'm pretty confident I could use my 5d for lawn bowls and then take pictures of the after party at the pub with it... They definitely are a lot stronger than most people think!

As a matter of fact I have never seen a DSLR break down due to rough handling.
On the other hand; caring for your DSLR usually means that at some point you end up with a beautiful paper weight because some small electronic component has been fried for no apparent reason...

Fondling your camera too much leads to static charge build-up 😛

Canon wanted a fee to check the camera over and Nikon didn't! 😱

Glad I bought a Nikon now. 😀
