How has your online buying/selling experience been? A poll

Bought form ebay, phot.net, Don Chatterton, photovillage, Jim Kuhel, Dr. Joseph Yao, Tarmarkin, B&H, Adorama, popflash, and this forum without any problem. I also have no problem using credit cards, cashier checks, paypal, money orders, and personal checks.
 
My buying experience on ebay is very mixed. Not encountered scams so far but experience bad sellers who over-stated the item's conditions or emitted faults. It's quite annoying, which makes me increasing cautious buying online. Actually, some online shops are using the same tricks.
 
I answered "no problems" to your poll but I've only bought using PayPal, never sold. For a while some sellers were very unhappy with PayPal, saying that the service had frozen their accounts and tied up a lot of their money over one questionable transaction. I suspect that policy, if they were reporting it accurately, has been changed, as I haven't seen that sort of complaint lately. My only minor PayPal annoyance has been that recently my payments are held for 3 or 4 days to "clear" -- but that may be related to some other changes to PayPal in the last few weeks that I understand bring it more in line with traditional bank regulations. Sorry not to be more specific about the changes, but I've just seen a comment or two in passing.

One other option should have been added to this poll:
"I try to avoid PayPal, but use it when necessary."
I also use Postal money orders and checks for small amounts.

Hi Raid: I agree, I should have added something like that. It's tricky to come up with the right set of questions or options for a poll. Maybe another one in a year's time. But it was interesting to see how many had no problems with PayPal, I think that should set some people at ease who haven't used it yet.

I use PayPal as much as I can. I just had a wonderful eBay experience. Bought something from a bloke in Toronto who doesn't take PayPal. Sent a check on the day after the purchase, seller mailed the item to me on the same day!!!!!!

Never dealt with him before, but his trust in me I found absolutely amazing! 😎
