How I make my black and white digital prints

I haven't tried Hahnemuhle papers. Make sure the prints are totally dry before judging them. Don't know about your Canon printer, but my Epson prints change a bit in appearance as they dry and reach their final form after about a day.

For the record I've observed similar behaviour with prints from my Canon (first-version Pro9500) though the effect varies with paper and colour vs B&W.

I'm also a new user of a Canon 9500mkII - I was inspired to start printing after reading Chris's excellent article (and by finding a near new 9500mkII for $200). It's worked well out of the box. I'm using the "Grayscale" setting in the printer driver for B&W. I know people say using the full set of color and black inks give better tonality but I haven't been able to see any difference using Canon fine art rag and semi-gloss papers.

Any thoughts or tips for getting the best prints from the 9500 from other users? What are your print workflow settings/software, particularly for B&W?

I just want to give a huge thanks for the helpful article, esp. the link to the RIP. I was about to give up on my little Epson 1900 for B&W, but this has completely changed everything. I'm now getting beautiful prints without the horrible color cast and constant fiddling.
