I've been purchasing my chemistry locally for the last years, but the store closed down so now I will have to go with mail order.

I'm using Ilford Rapid Fixer and Ilfostop, and powder developer (Ilford ID11 and Kodak Xtol).

What I'm wondering is: How long does the fixer and stop bath stay fresh in unopened (and undilluted) containers? I would like to order multiple bottles, to save on postage - but can I keep the unopened containers for 18-36 months?

As for powdered developer - I presume that will stay OK for a reasonably long time?

Tap water for stop is fresh every time you use it.

Are you in the USA? Freestyle sells concentrated fixer in a 1 gallon container. It's cheap. Probably cheap enough to use as a mix on demand one shot fixer. It could certainly be diluted for use to make 1 quart. Toss when a test indicates that it is spent.

Keep mixed up Xtol in an empty and CLEAN wine in a box bladder in the fridge. I use it that way for 9 months plus.

Rodinal is the champion for long shelf life. Undiluted naturally. Dilute and use as needed then discard.
