We're 5,000+ members strong. Many have been here for years but may not be so active anymore.

Question is: Out of the active members ('active' is here defined as the people that gets to read and answer this poll as un-scientific and precise as that is...) here "How long have you been a member of RFF?"

Are we predominantly a bunch of old, core members - or is the majority now recently joined members?

Let's see.

Click on your name to activate a pull down menu. Click on "view public profile" and you will find the date you joined. Look at the url in the address field at the top of the page to see your member number.

Aug. 23, 2004, member #575

You should turn this into a poll, Rich.

If you go to the members list and click on join date, it will order all the members by their join date.

Doesn't show who is still around/active though. :)

I agree, Rich. This will also point out how many joined just for the contest. Interesting idea, to do this, I think.

It shows last visit and post number which gives you a good idea of activity ;)

True...if I have endless hours to go through it...which...hmm...it appears I have...
BUT..let's do a poll anyway ;)

If the trend is steady, it´ll show that 2005 was the renaissance year for RFers!!!

I found RFF through a browser searching for "RANGEFINDER".
On June 3 2005 I was looking for info about navy Rangefinders, didn´t find what I was looking for but it turned into a sudden GAS attack...
Never minded about member# neither any contest.

I think the 20/80 rule will apply to each year of membership also. 20% will be active and 80% won't be active for any given year. At the end of 2003 I don't think we had more than 200 or so members of which not a lot were/are active.

I am number 186, like it matters.

I find the spike at that date very unusual. Or really just very interesting. What about the net, about the spread of information created that effect.

Found the site early in 2005 from a link through the Rollei List (or was it the Rollei Digest back then?)... Anyway, I read & read & read, then finally decided I might want to ask a q'n or 2, so I joined up... Hopefully you'll get a good # of people voting Rich b/c it will be interesting to see if 2005 stays so far ahead... Not sure we can tell yet with only 33 out of 5602 voted.

It seems every day we find new great members with lots to contribute. Getting better all of the time.
