How many 35mm rolls in a portrait shoot?

Nearly a lost art. If he didn't use a straight or DE, real shaving cream or soap, brush and hot towel, he didn't do it right. 😀 😛

OTOH, too much preparation can cause the subject to clamp up. I bet the last shot looked the most relaxed, since he was done with the session?:angel:


Slightly off-topic: I find it much easier to 'read' women than men. Men are more 'treacherous' when it comes to being nervous, they usually hide it so well they're not ever aware they are nervous after all. I find it easier to have women feel relaxed in front of the camera. They generally are easier to babble up a bit and have them relax 🙂

I use 1 roll of 35mm film for candid portraits and one to two rolls of 120 medium format film for posed portraits.

Do portraiture is about engagement with the subject. It is about the photographer-subject relationship. Any "rules" are bull-****e.

Every single time there's a question with a specific aspect, half the responses are about some ADD-induced after-thought.

Unfortunately, they drown out the other ones who try to get to the bottom of it. This is what Google search pollution is all about.

A whole roll of 120. If I shoot less, then I play with the remainder.

35mm or digital? Maybe 6 shots. Twice that if the lighting is tricky and I need to bracket. I don't usually shoot lots of different poses.
