How many 50mm ltm lenses do you own?

Nikkor 50/1.4 Japan, Nikkor 50/1.4 Tokyo, Canon 50/1.5, ZK 50/1.5 (1950 J-3).

That's all that's left in LTM 🙂

I only own ltm lenses, although that will change shortly when a 40 Rokkor-m arrives (thanks to Joe!). In 50, I have three:

Canon 50/1.8 black -- great
Canon 50/1.5 -- great
Elmar 50/3.5 coated -- great

Canon EFII--50/1.8
Industar 50--50/3.5
Industar 50 rigid--50/3.5
Industar 26m 50/2.8
Industar 61 50/2.8
2 of Jupiter 3 50/1.5(both LTM; need to sort which is working better)
2 of Jupiter 8 50/2(one Kiev and one LTM)
CZJ 58/2
Ten so far, not counting the few fixed lens cameras.
And I'm looking to add 2 or 3 more: some f2 collapsible LTM lens(for the Zorki), CV Nokton or some other 1.4 or 5 LTM lens. And maybe a faster EF mount 50.

The next great law of physics!

The next great law of physics!

.......Perhaps they breed?

Like that silly law about technology doubling every 18 months, RF lenses do breed. Problem is precise measurements taken around dozens of sites have been wildly fluctuating making norming impossible.

I myself have been practicing safe RFing only have one. A Nikkor 50/1.4 Millennium. The only other normal lens I have is a 58/1.4 CV SLII in F mount (evil SLR type) which to date seems to be under control of my safe approaches to photography.

Still have lots of work to do on the exact formula. Data seems to show that this phenomena is not limited to "Normal" lenses but in fact may be equally prevalent in wide angles as well. In the DSLR world multiplication of primes is not a much a problem is zooms. These new super zooms make rabbits look like they are chaste.

Back to studies.

Ive got three
Leitz 50/ 1.5
Industar 50/3.5 the ugliest lense ever made, i do like the results it gives though.
Jupiter 8 50/2

The J-8 is my main user though , although i have yet to develop a roll from the summarit 50/1.5 to know which i like better.

Currently: Fed-50, I-22, I-50, I-26M, I-61L/D, J-8, Canon 1.9, C/V 50/2.5... and I just recently sold my Summar...

don't feel bad!

🙂

In LTM only:

Canon:
50/1.2 great
50/1.4 great
50/1.8 great

Leica:
Elmar 5cm/3.5 classic and sharp
Elmar 5cm/2.8 sharp
Summar 5cm/2 great lens with flare
Summitar 5cm/2 hardly used by me
Summarit 5cm/1.5 this is a "creative" lens somehow; dreamy images for special occasions
Summicron 50/2 rigid, one of my alltime favorites, pristine
Summicron 50/2 collapsible

Zeiss Jena LTM:
Sonnar 5cm/2.0 both lenses are great for photography [two lenses; one is put together by Brian and one has been modified very early on]
Sonnar 5cm/1.5 uncoated, pre-war, pristine [put together by Brian] Brian has never encountered before such a clean Sonnar ZJ.

FSU:
50/2 [J8]
50/3.5
50/2.8 [Industrar 61L]
53/1.8 [Helios]

Roeschlein-Kreuznach:
50/2 Luxon "created" and adjusted by Brian

I try to use all lenses above as often as possible. I used to have a J-3 or two in LTM, but one was sold and one was modified into Contax mount. Now I have three J-3 in Contax mount [all adjusted by Brian].

Wow Raid, that's a lot of 50mm lenses. You should do a comparison test of all those. 😉 😀

50mm LTM:
Elmar f3.5 uncoated
FED f3.5
Summar f2
Summitar f2
CZJ f2 uncoated (by Brian S)
CV50 f2.5

M mount:
collapsible Summicron f2
1969-79 Summicron f2

Contax mount:
CZJ f1.5 uncoated
CZJ f2 T
J8m f2
Helios 103 f1.8

Just one for a Leica and I never use it. It's the black Summicron from about 1970.

I have a 50mm f/2.8 Color-Skopar on my Voigtlander VITO CL which I sometimes use as my carry around camera.

I find the angle of view of a 50 mm difficult to use. Possibly the most difficult focal length of them all. It is a little easier with the MF version; 80 mm, since it shows a little more angle at the top and bottom of the picture with the 6 x 6 cm. - I have the legendary Carl Zeiss 80 mm Planar, - two of them, w/ and w/o shutter. Then I have....

A Rodenstock 50 mm 1,4 (Screw mount, for Exacta) - the only lense I have got without internal dust,- and no multi coating.

A Canon 50 mm 1,0L - a curiosity....

A Leica 50 mm 1,0 w/built-in sun shade - a, æhum, curiosity II...

A Carl Zeiss Planar 50 mm 2,8 - by far the best 50 mm I have for the 135-system. Just excellent!

A Voigtländer 50 mm Color Scopar, - cheap, compact and damned good.

Then I got two Canon zooms covering the 50 mm field of view; 24 - 70 mm 2,8L and the 16-35 mm 2,8L II.

No, it is the 35 mm - field of view I prefer. On my M8 that equals the Carl Zeiss 50 mm 2,8.

I was a devout 50mm lens user. Then I spent some time in Europe on holiday and got to prefer the 35mm view. Now that I'm back in N.A., I use a 50 more again. I guess there is more space here and more banality to exclude with the longer focal length.

ZM Planar | Canon 1.5 | Canon 1.9 | Canon 2.8
Jupiter-3 (chrome) | Jupiter-3 (chrome)
Jupiter-8 (black) | Jupiter-8 (chrome)
Industar 61L/D | Industar 50 3.5

An even ten, I suppose.
